Sitting Pretty!

Sharing a card I made for a sweet little girl who loves to read! I used the new School Girl digital stamp from Tiddly Inks.  I think she is so sweet!  (and she is only $1.00!!)  I also tried something new.   Marie Browning over at the Tombow Blog is challenging us to create a background out of pages from a book.  It was very hard to rip a page from a book, since I too am a book lover.  I dug out an old book that my kids have out grown and used a couple pages from it.  Here's my card:
For the layout I followed this weeks sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.   For the background, I used two pages from a small children's book, I crumpled them, then smoothed them out slightly and brushed them with some SU Carmel ink.  I then adhere them to my panel with Tombow Aqua glue.  I left the paper a little bit crumpled.  My image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and Distressed markers.  I pierced the paper than did the stitching by hand.  Used MFT Fishtail Banner die to cut the banners.  I really like how the background turned out.  Will be using this technique again!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Have a very happy Labor Day weekend!  God bless!!

American Hero

Another Veteran's Day card!  I will be posting a few more in the weeks to come.  I make these Veteran's Day cards for the Vets in a local Veteran's home.  I like to make each card different and unique.  Here is one I made using the sketch from Viva la Verve! August Week 2, over at SCS.
Used Verve's Purely Sentimental set for the sentiment.  The silver frame is from SU.  Used Sizzix Primitive star dies for the two silver stars.  Distressed and inked up the edges of the paper layers.  Added a little twine for accent.  I am also entering this is Verve's August Diva Dare.
This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.

American Soldier

Decided to make another Veteran's Day card.  My sister volunteers at a Veterans Home, and I have been making cards for them for the past couple years.  I like to make a different and original card for each Veteran.  I know I am early, but I'm sure it will be here before you know it.
Used the sketch from Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge #167 as my inspiration.
I used ODBD Soldier stamp as my focal.
Stamped the image in black ink on craft colored paper, then matted it on white.  The star background was made by applying Distressed ink to the embossing folder before running it through my Big Shot.  Then added a blue layer, the striped layers and twine before popping up the image with foam tape.  Used a small star punch to create the three stars on bottom and top.  I love this image!

Back to School Bookmark

My teenage daughter was not ready to go back to school.  She had a part time job this summer as a lifeguard at the local public pool.  She loved it!  Her summer went by way to quick.  She also misses sleeping in, in the mornings, she didn't start working until 11:30, so most days she got to sleep in.
I created this bookmark for her.
I didn't add too many bulky embellishments, so it would lay flat in the book and not do any damage.  I did not tie a knot or bow with the twine like I normally do.  Since I want the bookmark flat I just used the twine as a border.  The Twinery is have a great Back to School Bus challenge going on right now, so head on over and check it out!

The image is Wee Henry Moon from Hambo Stamps.  The Hoedown Challenge this week is to create a back to school themed project.  Thought this bookmark would be a great choice for my daughter, since her sleeping in days are few and far between now!  The layout is my take on the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch #138

I created the sentiment in MSWord.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  Have a blessed weekend! Enjoy!

Sunflowers

Playing along over at the Sweet Stop!
Flipped this sketch for my card.
The spin this week is to use sunflowers.  This old SU stamp is the only sunflower stamp I own.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils and some Distress markers.  Stamped the image a few times and popped up a few of the flowers for dimension.
I was pleased with the final results!

True Soldier

Quick post to share a Veteran's Day card I put together last night.
Used the sketch over at Sweet n' Sassy Sweet Shop Sketch Challenge #223

The sentiment stamp is Unity's True Soldier Fights stamp.  Stamped the sentiment on some white card stock and punched a star border with an old Tonic punch.  Inked the panel up with some SU Crumb Cake to give it an aged look.  Added a knotted burlap ribbon.  Attached it to my card with some foam tape.  The paper layers are from my stash.  Quick little card to thank a Veteran. Yes, I am a little early with the Veterans's Day card, but Unity has some GREAT Soldier/Veteran stamps, just had to play with them!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog! Have a blessed weekend!

Send in the Clowns!

Joining in the Hoedown over at Hambo is week!  Using this new Hambo digital stamp, "Clowns" to create this bright and fun birthday card!

This weeks challenge was to use at least three pattern papers.  Used Deconstructed Sketch #113 for the layout. The paper I used is from my stash.  For my three patterns I used strips on the first layer, then a layer with stars, and then some yellow gingham paper.  Added some ribbon and a star brad.  Added a little doodled stitching around the main image panel.  The image was colored with Tombow markers.

"Wheely" Happy B-day!

Sharing a really quick and easy masculine birthday card.  The layout is from the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Sweet and Sassy Stamps have just released their August dies and stamps and they are celebrating with some prizes!  Check out challenge # 1, over at SCS here.  SNS Challenge #1 is to stamp your sentiment over a silhouette.  I do not have many silhouette stamps, but this one my boys really like!  Cards in Envy is also having a Rev It Up Challenge, perfect for those of us whose boys out number the girls! It's always a challenge for me to come up with cards for young men.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet! God bless!!

Congratulations

Made this card for my niece who just got engaged last weekend!
Used this sketch from MFT  Wednesday Stamp club.
MFTWSC136

Took on There She Goes Challenge 219 - Color Inspiration; use red and aqua. I used Unity's Rain or Shine Itty Bitty for the image.  The sentiment is from a set I picked up at Hobby Lobby a year or two ago.  Used clear EP on white card stock and then inked up the banner with Fired Brick Distressed Ink.  I used Distressed markers and my watercolor brush to color the image.  The little heart buttons were given to me by my Mother-in-law.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by my little blog! Have a blessed weekend!!

CASE'd Happy Anniversary

Created this card for my brother-in-law and his wife.  I CASE'd this card created by Makiko Jones, one of the very talented DT members at Flourishes.  Love her beautiful work!
Life_Love__Lemon_31_edited3
Used Flourishes Garden Gate stamp set to create the flowered background.  Colored the image with Prismacolor pencils.  I've been wanting to try embossing and coloring on vellum; so that is how I created the flower image on the panel.  The sentiment is a very old stamp I've had for years.  Used a SU border punch for the lacy border.  Pierced and inked the edges of the green panel.  Added a little seam binding.  Thanks Makiko for the beautiful card to CASE!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  Blessings!

Belated Birthday

Just returned home from a short vacation and found time to play between loads of laundry.  Used TMS Sketch #209 to make this card using a digital image from Hambo Stamps.

The image is called "Venus Flytrap", from Hambo Stamps.  I colored it with Prismacolor pencils.  Used some patterned paper from my stash.  Added a few eyelets and some twine and embroidery floss.  Stitched around the sentiment with embroidery floss.  Inside it says "my plant ate the first one!"  (Sorry, no pic of the inside)
Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed week!
