Vintage Truck

I took some time last night to create a card since I will be away this weekend with no time to craft!  I decided to make a vintage masculine card with Stampin Up Countryside set.  Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge this week was to created a vintage card.  I decided to go with a vintage masculine card.  I love the lacy, soft vintage look, but I am always needing more masculine cards.  I embossed the truck using Versamark ink and brown embossing powder.  I then cut out the image and inked the oval edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and matted it on red paper.  Cut a strip of PP and matted that on red paper also.   The background paper is Paper Pizazz from Hobby Lobby.  I fell in love with this paper when I saw it.  It is wood grain with peeling paint.  Looks like the side of our old barn.  I used a distressing tool on the edges of the background paper and added a little Vintage Photo ink to the edges. Layered red and brown ribbon and added a ribbon slide.   Put it all together using the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #183.
I did get the approval of my 16 year old son on this card!! Thanks for looking. God bless!!

Praying for you

Created this card using the Viva La Verve Challenge Sketch Jan 2013 Week 5.  The challenge was to make a one layer card.  To create the background I laid down some Distressed ink on my craft mat, spritzed with water, then laid my CS in the ink/water mix.  I shadowed stamped the flowers, stamped the sentiment, added gems and adhered to my card base.  Simple little card! Thanks for looking!  God bless!

Fishing B-day

Can't believe I actually got another card done this weekend!  I ordered a Grab Bag from Flourishes during an after Christmas sale.  Usually I avoid Grab Bags because I like to know what I'm getting, but I thought I'd take a chance this one time.  I was pleasantly surprised when I receive the Grab Bag.  I fell in love with the stamp set they sent.  It is the Kids at Play set and I love the images in the set.  I finally had a chance to play with it this weekend!  Created this card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #204.  The challenge was to created a card using a circle, a fishtail, and pearls.  Hope the square embellies work in place of the pearls.  Couldn't bring myself to put pearls on a masculine card!  Thanks for looking! Have a great week!

Sending you....

This weekend I made a flip it card.  Sizzix makes a card base die called a flip it.  The die cuts and scores the card base to make a fun card that "flips" when you pull it open.  Everyone in the Stamps of Life club received a free flip it card base with the January club shipment.  The Stamps of Life is having a contest and are giving away 10 flip it dies.  If you win, you get your choice of flip it die! Sweet!!  Here is the card I created for the contest.
The front

I used The Stamps of Life set Butterfly2Build and the Stephanie Barnard/Sizzix Butterfly die set.  I cut the flower petals from patterned paper with the small wing from the butterfly die set.  I stamped the butterfly on white card stock then cut it out.  I stamped the wings with the swirl pattern from the Butterfly2Build stamp set.  After I had the front put together I thought I should add some of the flight dots from the set.  When I added them they smeared! Ugh!!!  I didn't have another base to start again, so I had to go with it! (I don't own the flip it dies yet either, but they are on my wish list!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAIL

Not much time to craft this weekend.  I did manage to finish another birthday card using my new digi from Tiddly Inks, Happy Mail.  I meant to enter this in two challenges, but I missed the deadline for the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge. (bummer!) I did manage to squeeze it in over at the Tiddy Ink challenge #101 Anything Goes!

I love this new image from Tiddly Inks!  Printed out the digi  and used my Prismacolor Pencils to color in Wren and the mailbox.  Sponged on some Distressed ink for the sky and grass.  I really need more practice making backgrounds and coloring images!  Used my old scallop scissors to cut a mat for the digi.  Stamped some postage stamps with The Stamps of Life Postage2stamp set.  Added various images to the postage stamps, cut them out and adhered them to the card front.  Added a bow with some new seam binding I just received from Verve.  Used an oval punch to punch out the Happy Mail sentiment, the adhered it under the bow.

Hugs

Made this card with The Stamps of Life set Hearts2diefor.  Really cute set and I just got the matching dies.  Love them! They make cutting our the hearts so much easier!  I clear embossed two of the hearts, then colored one with red metallic Gelato and the other with SU Melon Mambo. Cut a "burlap" heart using on of the dies as a pattern. Then layered them as shown. (Its really not burlap, its Aida cloth left over from my counted cross stitch days.)  Stamped another heart on a small piece of "burlap" and cut it out for an accent piece. I had to stamp the heart a few times to get the color dark enough.  Colored a piece of jute with some Fired Brick Distress Ink and water.  Great technique to make your twine match you project.  The DP is from Echo Park and Bo Bunny.

Owl's it Going?

Three cards in one weekend!  Housework can wait!  Used the layout from this weeks MoJo Monday sketch.  Loved this sketch!  Used my The Stamps of Life Postage2stamp set for the owl and sentiment.  The metal tag and brads or from Stampin Up!  The orange bakers twine and green variegated floss is from Sew Easy.  The paper is just what I had laying around.  Super quick and easy card!!

Happy Birthday card

Made this birthday card with a new digi I bought from Tiddly Inks!  This is the new Happy Mail digi.  Tiddly Inks is releasing new digi's and clear stamps this month!  I used my new Martha Stewart Punch around the page punch for the purple mat.  Die cut some flowers, leaves and a butterfly.  Stamped some tone on tone flowers in the upper and lower corners.  Added glitter and gems to the die cut flowers and added gems to the butterfly. The image is colored with Prismacolored pencils.  Paper pierced around the image and added a Happy Birthday tag.   Can never have enough birthday cards on hand!

Happy Easter

Getting a jump on my Easter cards this year.  Used a digi I received free from Meljens Designs.  Meljens Design has some cute digi's and she often gives them away free.  How awesome is that?!  This week Meljen's challenge was a color challenge.  I used some old DP I had on hand for the background.  Used a scalloped edger on the lighter blue, embossed the brighter blue, added a thin strip of dark green; layered them all together.  Then I added the purple ribbon and bow w/button.  (the button is hard to see on the dark purple ribbon) Die cut a scalloped circle in the dark green and added some glitter glue around the edges.  Colored and cut out the lamb and layered it on the scalloped circle.  Added an old Happy Easter sentiment and used my circle punches to layer it on a purple mat and added some Stickles around the edge.

Spread the Love!!

Tried a new technique; blackboard.  Stamped the love with Versamark Ink, then embossed with white embossing powder.  Drew some hearts in the corner, added some lines around the edges and added some XOXO's to the lower corner; all with a white Prismacolor pencil. Sponged some white ink onto the black card stock to give it a dusted look.  Trimmed with some red rick-rack and some white ribbon and a button.  Attached to my card front, that I had already covered with some Echo Park DP.  Simple card, can use for Valentines, weddings, anniversary or any time you want to spread the love!

Into the Light

Created this card for Word Art Wednesday Challenge #60.  Love the free sentiments they give away weekly.  I also used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge #176.  I flipped the sketch, used three ribbon tags and some new ribbon I just received with a recent order.  I inked up and layered two Prima flowers.  Added some Shimmer mist to the flowers and a gem in the center.
Also entered in Really Reasonable Ribbons Challenge #63 "My New Toys & Ribbon".  On this card, my new toy was ribbon!
